IPHONE 14 PRO & 14 PRO MAX RUMOURED TO HAVE BETTER OLED PANELS COMPARED TO REGULAR IPHONE 14

top-news

The latest rumour to support such a hypothesis would be that Samsung Display, the company that manufactures most of Apple’s display panels across their product lineup, has supplied two different kinds of OLED panels for this year's iPhones.

The iPhone 14 will have a 6.1-inch display whereas the iPhone 14 Max will have a 6.7-inch display. The iPhone 14 Pro, will have a 6.1-inch display with ProMotion capabilities, while the iPhone 14 Pro Max will have a 6.7-inch display with ProMotion capabilities.

Apparently, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will receive a new OLED panel utilising a more advanced set of materials, known as ‘M12’. This will be the same cutting-edge OLED material set that will be used in the forthcoming Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 foldables. The iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max will also use an LTPO backplane to enable the ProMotion feature.

However, it’s only the Pro line that will see such an improvement. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 max will not be getting this upgrade. Instead, they will have to make do with the same display panel with LTPS backplanes used in the iPhone 13 family. The iPhone 13 family, had used a set of materials that were known as ‘M11.’

Samsung Mobiles already separates its phones in this way. The Samsung Galaxy S22 uses an OLED display made using M10 materials, while the Galaxy S22 Plus and S22 Ultra use display panels which have been made using M11 materials.

Besides the different display technologies being used in the display panels, rumours have suggested that the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will effectively run on the same A15 Bionic chip that powers the iPhone 13, while the iPhone 14 Pro lineup will switch to the newer and much faster A16.

Other reports claim that only the Pro models will sport a revised hole punch notch, with the iPhone 14 and 14 Max making do with the existing chunky version. It’s also claimed that only the Pro handsets will gain a new 48MP camera sensor.
